A Brief Prayer in Advent

God of enduring peace, descend on us. Descend upon our anger, our anxiety. Descend upon our community, our nation, and our world. Descend upon our hearts. Where there is anger—sow peace, where there is doubt—sow determination, where there is depression—sow joy, where there is bitterness—sow satisfaction, and where there is despair—sow courage. Breathe your deep peace into us, O God, in this season of Advent. Remind us of the holiness found in patiently waiting, especially during a time that drives us to frantic scurrying. It is in the name of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, that we pray. Amen.
