John 14:25-29: A Call to Worship

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you.”
May our peace not be only a lack of conflict, but also an abundance of compassion.

Jesus said, “I do not give to you as the world gives.”
May our offerings be sacrificial and not self-serving.

Jesus said, “Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid ”
May our hearts be filled with courage to do justice, walk humbly and love kindness.

Jesus said, “I am going away, and I am coming to you.”
May our prayers seek God’s will to be done and kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven.

Jesus said, “The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you.”
May our eyes see and ears hear the glorious mystery of God’s work in our lives. May our hearts sing in harmony with the love Jesus Christ has for us. May our lives be filled with reminders from the Holy Spirit that we are loved, redeemed, and chosen as we are. Glory to God!

Revelation 21:1-6: A Call to Worship

“Once, Jesus was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming and he answered, ‘The kingdom of God is among you.’”
(Luke 17:20-21)

See, the home of God is among mortals.
He will dwell with them;
they will be his peoples,
and God himself will be with them;

The kin-dom of God is among us, but there is still work to be done!

God will wipe every tear from their eyes.
Death will be no more;
mourning and crying and pain will be no more,
for the first things have passed away.

There are still tears and there is still needless death. We still inflict pain upon each other, and endlessly fight to be the first in power, prestige, and wealth.

The kin-dom of God is among us, but there is still work to be done!

Glory to God, who grants us grace which enables our kin-dom building work. Glory to Jesus Christ, whose perfect love teaches us how to build the kin-dom of God. Glory to the Holy Spirit who nourishes our souls as we work. Amen.
