Call to Worship: Luke 12:49-56 "The Fire of Jesus"

Jesus came to bring fire to the earth,
and oh! How we wish it were already kindled.

May the fire of compassion be kindled,
that we would be moved to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, care for the sick, slake the thirsty, visit the imprisoned.

May the fire of justice be kindled,
that we stay awake and speak out against oppression.

May the fire of joy be kindled,
that depression and despair would be snuffed out and replaced with freedom.

May the fire of peace be kindled,
that war and violence would be consumed by God’s shalom.

May the fire of hope be kindled,
that God’s kingdom of everlasting joy would be fully realized.
